Valuable Mirror of Truth #9: “Friend of God”
Read: John 15: 12-15
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
For God so loved you, his friends, that He died on the cross for your sins. Isn’t it beautiful that God called us his friends? He values each of us more than just as a Father does his child, but in an intimate relationship that He calls us his friends. God wants to commune with us and sup with us just as he did his friend Abraham (James 2:23). He loved us so much that He wrapped himself in sinful flesh to experience human nature and was in all points tempted so He may understand our joy and our pain, our laughter and our tears. He valued each of us so greatly that He extends his friendship to each one of us on a personal level. In prayer, we talk to him and he listens. When Jesus left this world, He sent us the Holy Spirit, the great Comforter to lead and guide all who desire to abide in Him. What great love God has for us, that he looks beyond our imperfections and sees our perfect value, whole and always intact, never diminishing. When you feel alone or down, remember you have a friend in the creator who is always near. Jesus is a friend to us, are you a friend to Him?
