Valuable Mirror of Truth #19: Occupy Until I Come

Read: Luke 19:13

This Valuable Mirror of Truth is dedicated to anyone trying to figure out what you should be doing until Jesus returns.

A little over a year ago, I had a conversation with an acquaintance about her desire to continue her education. In our discussion, she mentioned that she had changed her mind about going to college now, because her Pastor had been talking so much about the rapture, and God coming back soon, she just decided, “Why would I pay all that money to go to college now, if God will be back soon?”

At that time, I couldn’t think of what to say to her that could help her with this dilemma in her life. But one day, as I thought about that conversation with my associate, God whispered in my ear, “to occupy till I come.” Luke 19:13, KJV.

To occupy till He comes, does not mean for us to sit down and wait until He returns, No! It means that we should occupy the space in this world, with great intention and purpose, because God has specifically blessed each of us with different talents, while also equipping us with the tools needed to grow each talent in abundance…for some 30, for some 60, and for some 100-fold.

As it says in Philippians 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” KJV

Another purpose that we have while occupying space on this earth, is to work to advance the kingdom of God; to take every opportunity to inspire lost souls to surrender their lives to God. Remembering also that God’s purposes and plans for your life are laced with promise, in that God told Abraham that his seed, “WILL BE BLESSED.” And we are indeed, the seed of Abraham. Galatians 3:29, KJV.

In my closing, I want to add one more thing that I read online: occupying until Jesus comes, is a call to live with eternal purpose, recognizing that while we are in the world, we are working on behalf of a King who will soon return to see what His servants have done with the talents that He gave them to cultivate, for the advancement of His Kingdom.

OCCUPY TILL I COME!”
